Museum
Introduction
The Education Museum of National Institute of Education is the only and main conservation center of education history in Sri Lanka. The Museum opens to the public after renewing the building in 2015. It contains and exhibit valuable objects and information on education in Sri Lanka. Some of the important objects among the collection are cloak, national dress, hand writing scripts and memorial items of Dr. C.W.W. Kannangara, curriculum materials of general education in Sri Lanka, education circulars, teaching learning materials and ancient writing equipment.
According to the Museum action plans – 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 some activities had been taken to develop exhibition items, displays, information in the Museum and an awareness program conducted with the support of the Colombo National Museum to aware students on protecting school heritage.
In future the Education Museum aims to be the main resource center for disseminate and conserve educational history in Sri Lanka by developing the Museum as a resource center for the benefit of local and foreign students, researchers, teachers and future generation.
